Em matéria de política interna, atirou-se de cabeça contra a Lei de Protecção e Cuidado ao Paciente, ainda hoje conhecida como “Obamacare”.

Obama herdou uma economia mergulhada na maior crise desde a "Grande Depressão de 1929", com um elevado deficit orçamental, sobretudo, devido aos gastos militares decorrentes das guerras então em curso no Afeganistão e Iraque. Crise que se aprofundou com a “bolha imobiliária” despoletada no segundo mandato de George W. Bush.

No domínio externo, Obama firmou acordos que desenharam um reequilibrio na arena internacional: i) “Acordo Internacional sobre as Alterações Climáticas” (Paris 2015); ii) “Acordo Nuclear com o Irão”; iii) Tirou Cuba do isolamento internacional; iv) Firmou a “Parceria Transpacifico”, envolvendo países como Japão, Austrália e Coreia do Sul, para reduzir a crescent influência da China no Oceano Pacífico.

A too turbulent mandate

The US elections (Noveber 3, 2020) are fast approaching, which will dictate the political future of President Trump, as well as, to some extent, the word. That is why I think i tis appropriete to riview the state in word politics.

Obama inherieted an economy plunget into the greatest crisis since the “Great Depression” of 1929, with a high budget deficit, mainly due to teh militar spending resulting from then ongoing wors in Afghanistan and Iraq. The crisis deepened with the “real estate bubble” unleashed during George W. Busch´s second tern.

Outside home grounds, Obama signed agreements that designed a rebalancing in the international arena: i) “International Agreement on Climate Change” (Paris 2015); ii) “Nuclear Agreement with Iran”; iii) Bringing Cuba out of international isolation; iv) Signing the “Transpacific Partnership”, involving countries such as Japan, Australia and South Korea, to reduce Chinas´s growing influence in the Pacific Ocean.
